How It Works
The PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) process utilizes molecular zeolite sieves with a strong affinity for nitrogen when under pressure to effectively separate oxygen from the air. There are two adsorption vessels at most facilities that operate on a cycle of high and low pressures to continually produce oxygen.
Air Compression and Filtering - Ambient air enters the compressor. The compressor removes any contaminants, including water vapour and particulates (such as dust) by filtering them out.
Nitrogen Adsorption Process of Air: The air is filtered and dried and fed into the vessels that contain the sieves of zeolites, nitrogen adsorbs to the zeolite and pure oxygen flows through.
Pressure Swing (De-Adsorption): The beds will switch pressure cycles and safely off gas the nitrogen and maintain a constant operation on an even process.
Continuous Flow: The system switches between adsorption and regeneration to ensure that the oxygen continues to flow continuously.
Storage: The oxygen, 93 + 3% purity, thus generated will be forced into a buffer tank where it will be stored to be utilized directly or to a cylinder where it will be charged.
